About the Role

Cloud Engineer (Defence)

Location: South West (onsite, 4 days per week)

Rate: £700–800 per day (Outside IR35)

Clearance: DV (Developed Vetting) – active or recently lapsed

Join a high-profile Defence programme delivering complex, mission-critical cloud environments. This role sits within a secure engineering team, building and maintaining highly available Kubernetes and Terraform-based infrastructure for classified systems.

Key Focus

Hands-on cloud engineering within secure environments (more engineering than architectural design). Ownership of Kubernetes-based platform build, deployment, and optimisation. Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform in multi-tenant, air-gapped, and Terraform Cloud environments. Cloud-native testing, verification, and automation of platform reliability. Contribution to the secure delivery and compliance of cloud platforms supporting Defence systems.

Required Skills & Experience

DV Clearance (current or lapsed within 12 months). Strong Kubernetes engineering experience (build, management, troubleshooting). Deep Terraform knowledge (Terraform Cloud preferred). Cloud platform testing and validation experience (e.g. integration, performance, or environment resilience). Experience in modern cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or hybrid secure hosting). Proven ability to work in secure, high-assurance environments.
