About the Role

Functional Programming Engineer – AI Platform

Hybrid (London HQ) | £100k–£140k + Equity

We’re partnered with a rapidly scaling AI company building cutting-edge platforms that help professionals across legal, finance, insurance, and accounting harness the power of AI to work faster, smarter, and with total confidence in the results.

This team is on a mission to make AI truly trustworthy - enabling complex, multi-modal data to be transformed into accurate, verifiable outputs with transparent logic for full compliance and auditability. Backed by world-class investors and AI pioneers, they’re building something game changing.

The Opportunity

Joining a small, high-performing engineering team, you’ll play a key role in developing their core AI platform. This isn’t just about writing code - you’ll have ownership over planning, testing, and scaling systems that meet challenging multi-tenant usage patterns.

You’ll collaborate closely with Product and Design to ship features daily, working at the cutting edge of AI to deliver APIs and tools used by some of the world’s leading organisations.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Scaling the platform to handle large-scale, multi-modal data with state-of-the-art foundation models (GPT-4.1, Claude 4, Gemini 1.5, and beyond).
  • Building a rich suite of APIs powering both internal systems and customer-facing products.
  • Contributing to architectural decisions and improving developer workflows.
  • Working in a fast-paced environment where impact and outcomes matter more than process.

What We’re Looking For

  • Solid experience with functional programming (Elixir is a bonus, but Scala, Go, Node.js, Haskell, Clojure, or F# are all great too).
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure at scale – AWS, Terraform, and container orchestration (Docker).
  • Experience with queue management and observability.
  • Familiarity with GenAI and prompt engineering is a plus.

A self-starter mindset with a passion for building products that customers love.

You’ll be part of a mission-driven, collaborative team where your work directly shapes a platform at the frontier of AI innovation. Expect huge ownership, fast iteration, and the chance to grow alongside some of the sharpest minds in tech.

We’re looking for engineers who want to make an impact and help shape the future of trustworthy AI. Apply now for an initial confidential chat.
