Lead Desktop Support Engineer – Global Trading Systems

£150,000–180,000 + Bonus & package | London | Hybrid

Ncounter are supporting a world-leading financial services firm to hire a Lead Desktop Support Engineer. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a high-performing support function in a fast-paced trading environment, providing guidance to a global team and ensuring first-class service delivery across business-critical systems.

The Role You will lead a small but impactful support team, ensuring operational stability across a large-scale international user base. With direct responsibility for mentoring engineers, refining processes, and driving service improvements, you’ll play a pivotal role in how the business delivers technology to front, middle, and back-office teams. You will act as the key escalation point for complex issues, working closely with development, infrastructure, and trading support groups to resolve problems quickly and effectively. Proactive monitoring, incident management, and continuous improvement will sit at the heart of your role.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and mentor a team of Desktop Support Analysts, driving best practice and professional development Own the global incident, request, and escalation processes across desktop and end-user support Act as senior escalation for Windows, Office 365, Azure, and endpoint infrastructure challenges Collaborate with engineering teams on automation, scripting, and tooling improvements Oversee vendor relationships and guide technology strategy to align with business needs Drive root cause analysis, proactive monitoring, and resilience planning to minimise disruption

What You’ll Bring

Proven experience in leading or mentoring technical support teams in high-pressure environments Expert knowledge of Windows, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Office 365 in enterprise environments Strong PowerShell scripting ability, with bonus points for Python or Bash Hands-on expertise with endpoint hardware and desktop troubleshooting Familiarity with networking and Linux fundamentals a plus A customer-first approach with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels
